Dr. Frank is just back from Australia, where she worked with Prof. Chris Fielding and collaborators from the Swedish Museum of Natural History and Geoscience Australia to examine the record of the "Great Dying," as preserved in the Permo-Triassic Stratigraphy of eastern Australia. The Great Dying refers to a major mass extinction event some 252 million years ago. What caused the loss of nearly 95% of marine species and 70% of terrestrial vertebrates and plants? Stay tuned!
